Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 September 2026

Welcome to IB Demystified. We are committed to supporting your academic success while respecting and protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use ibdemystified.com, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

By using our website you agree to this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the site.

Who we are

IB Demystified LTD is a company registered in England and Wales, providing online tutoring and study resources for IB students worldwide.

  • Address: 3 Brickhouse Road, Rowley Regis, West Midlands, Birmingham, B65 8HD, United Kingdom
  • Email: info@ibdemystified.com
  • Phone and WhatsApp: +44 (0) 7700 1010 59

For data protection purposes, IB Demystified LTD is the data controller — the organisation responsible for deciding how your information is used.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Your name, email address and phone number
  • Anything you write in an enquiry form or send us by email or WhatsApp
  • Details about your studies — your programme, year group, subjects and what you want help with
  • Account details if you register, including your username and password
  • Billing details when you buy tutoring hours or a membership

Information we collect automatically

  • Basic technical information such as your browser type, device and approximate location
  • Which pages you visited and how you moved around the site
  • Cookies, as described further down this page

Information from other services

  • If you sign in using a Google account, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us
  • Our payment provider confirms whether a payment succeeded

How we use your information

  • To answer your enquiries and arrange tutoring
  • To match you with a suitable tutor
  • To create and manage your account, membership and orders
  • To give you access to study resources you have paid for
  • To send you information about the services you have asked about
  • To improve how the website works
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations

We rely on your consent where you have submitted an enquiry, on the performance of a contract where you have bought something, and on our legitimate interest in running and improving the business for general site analytics.

Signing in with Google

You can create an account or sign in using your Google account instead of a password. When you do this, Google confirms your identity to us and shares your name, email address and profile picture.

We never see or receive your Google password. The sign-in happens entirely on Google’s side. You can stop using Google sign-in at any time and use an email address and password instead.

If the email address on your Google account matches an account you already have with us, the two are joined so you keep your existing orders and membership rather than starting again.

Payments

Payments for tutoring packages and memberships are handled by our payment provider. Your card details are entered on their system, not ours — we never see or store your full card number. We receive only confirmation that the payment succeeded, along with the amount and the last few digits of the card for our records.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies to keep you logged in, remember what is in your basket, and understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site — including logging in and checking out — will not work properly without them.

Sharing your information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only where it is necessary to run the service:

  • With the tutor assigned to you, so they can prepare and teach your lessons
  • With our website hosting, email and payment providers
  • With Google, if you choose to sign in that way
  • With our accountants, and with authorities where the law requires it

Everyone we work with is required to handle your information securely and use it only for the purpose we gave it to them for.

Students under 18

Many of our students are school age. Where a student is under 18, we ask that a parent or guardian makes the booking, provides the contact details and agrees to this policy on the student’s behalf.

We collect no more information about a young person than we need to teach them well. If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent’s knowledge, email us and we will delete it.

How long we keep your information

  • Enquiries that do not lead to lessons: up to two years, in case you come back to us
  • Account and lesson records: for as long as your account is open, and for a period afterwards in case you return
  • Payment and invoice records: six years, as UK tax law requires

Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, loss or misuse. Our website uses an encrypted connection, and access to customer records is limited to people who need it. No online service can promise perfect security, but we take this seriously and act quickly if something goes wrong.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate information corrected
  • Ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
  • Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
  • Ask us to transfer your information to another provider
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on your consent

To use any of these rights, email info@ibdemystified.com. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any change is published on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continuing to use the website means you accept the updated version.
