How the examiner route works

Who actually reads your work

The examiner route is read by practicing IB examiners and moderators — the people who mark and moderate this coursework for the IB in the subject you are submitting. They know the current criteria, the published command terms, and the places marks are most often lost.

We never assign someone from your own school, which is why the form asks where you study. Your work is seen only by your assigned examiner and is deleted 90 days after your report is sent.

Your examiner gives feedback and estimated marks only. They will not edit, rewrite or add to your work, and the marks they estimate are their professional judgement, not official IB marks. That keeps you on the right side of your school’s academic integrity policy — the work you submit stays entirely your own.

Questions students ask first

Is this allowed by my school?
Getting feedback on a draft is a normal part of the IB process — your own teacher is allowed to comment on one draft. We only ever give you feedback: nobody edits, rewrites or adds to your work, so what you hand in is still entirely yours. Schools differ, so the booking form asks you to confirm that yours allows outside feedback on a draft and that you will follow its academic integrity policy. If you are unsure, ask your coordinator first.
Are these real IB marks?
No. Every mark you see here is an estimate — our professional judgement of where your work currently sits against the published criteria. Only the IB can award an official mark. The point of the estimate is to show you which criteria are costing you marks while you can still do something about it.
How is the AI route different?
The AI Assessor gives you AI-generated feedback in minutes, for £5. It is not read by a person and it is not an official IB mark. It is the quickest way to find out whether your Maths or Physics IA is roughly on track and which criteria need work. For the draft you are actually submitting, an examiner reading it properly is worth the difference.
What does the report actually look like?
One section per criterion. For each one: the mark band your work sits in, why it sits there in plain words, and the specific change that would move it up — quoting your own text, so you know exactly which paragraph is meant. Then a short summary of the two or three edits worth doing first.
How long does it take?
The AI route comes back in minutes. An examiner report is 7 working days from the moment your payment is confirmed, or within 72 hours if you add Express for £30. The booking form shows you the date before you pay.
Who sees my work?
Only the examiner assigned to it. It is never shared with your school, never published, never used as an example, and it is deleted 90 days after your report is sent. There is more detail in our privacy policy.
I am under 18. Can I still book?
Yes. The form asks for a parent or guardian email so we can copy them on your order and your report.
Can I send the same work twice?
On the AI route, as often as you like — each submission is £5. On the examiner route each review is one booking, so a second opinion on a redraft is a new booking. Plenty of students use the AI route to tidy up a draft first, then send the improved version to an examiner.
